An EICR (Electrical Installation Condition Report) is the ultimate MOT for your property's electrical system. Pulse Electrical London conducts rigorous EICRs across the region, providing comprehensive, digitally-typed compliance reports. Whether you are a landlord securing a new tenancy, a business maintaining HSE compliance, or a homeowner buying/selling a property, we deliver fast, accurate certification.
Key Benefits
What Exactly Happens During an EICR?
An EICR is an extensive, invasive inspection. Our highly qualified NICEIC inspectors begin with a visual property sweep, physically examining the condition of socket faceplates, light switches, and visible cabling for heat damage or mechanical wear. We then safely isolate the incoming power. Using calibrated multi-function testers, we inject test voltages into your circuits to measure the invisible health of the system—checking insulation resistance (cable degradation), earth fault loop impedance (ensuring protective devices will trip fast enough under a fault), and injecting faults to ensure RCDs react within the regulatory millisecond timescales.
EICR Safety Coding Explained
Upon completion, the report generates an outcome of "Satisfactory" or "Unsatisfactory." Any observed defects are assigned a severity code:
- C1 (Danger present): The most severe code. There is a risk of immediate injury, such as exposed live wires or a fractured socket casing. Immediate action is required.
- C2 (Potentially dangerous): Urgent remediation needed. An example would be an absence of an earth connection on a lighting circuit featuring metal switches, posing a lethal risk if a fault occurs.
- C3 (Improvement recommended): The installation is not immediately dangerous, but it does not meet current safety protocols (e.g., a plastic consumer unit under a wooden staircase). It does not fail the report alone.
- FI (Further investigation): The inspector found an anomaly that could not be fully diagnosed within the EICR scope without further dismantling.
A single C1, C2, or FI code results in an "Unsatisfactory" failure.
Remedial Works & Clearance
If your property fails the EICR, do not panic. We provide a completely transparent, itemized quotation to rectify only the exact defects causing the failure. There is zero obligation to use us for the repairs, but if you do, we swiftly execute the remedial work and issue a clean "Satisfactory" certificate immediately—ensuring your legal compliance is secured rapidly.
